Staying safe with inflatables – Part 1
Location Location Location
Here at Blackpool Bounce, your safety is of course our biggest priority closely followed by providing you with the MOST fun ever, so whilst you’re enjoying all that our inflatables have to offer we need to ensure we stay fully up to date with anything to do with inflatable safety
We regularly attend training to keep our skills tip top and so we thought we’d share some of what we’ve learnt in the process so you can bounce away safely and securely in the knowledge that we’ve got your back. We thought we’d share some of what we do before and after every event to give you a little insight…
Firstly: Location. Location. Location. Nope, we’re talking about good old Kirsty and Phil on Channel 4, but where to set up our inflatables to ensure you get the best out of your event.
- We find a space big enough and wide enough to accommodate the inflatable, the equipment plus enough open space at the front and sides. Sounds easy enough right? You’d be surprised as there’s various factors that this includes.
- Ok, Look up! That’s one of the first things we do upon attending the site. It must be safely enough away from any potential hazards- this includes overhead power lines, trees, fences and anything else which could be a potential hazard. Oh and nothing sharp or debris on the floor… for obvious reasons! If your event is indoors then we need to check ceiling height is tall enough to accommodate the inflatable.
- If the event requires the inflatable to have a perimeter fence then this needs to be at least 1.8m from the walled sides and at least 3.5m from any open sides (Which is why we carry our great big tape measures for such occasions). Any guy ropes used by the inflatable must also be contained within the fenced area so of course you and your guests aren’t in danger of tripping up.
- If the inflatable is next to a solid building wall, then the wall must be at least 2m higher than the highest inflatable platform height (another one for the tape measure)
- Wind speed! We pay close attention to the wind at every single stage including on the night before, the morning of and during any event as it must not surpass Force 5 (or 24mph). We do this with a handy little tool called an anemometer.
Ok, all set and good to go, that’s the pre inflation stage covered. Stay tuned for our next blog which will cover how we safely inflate ready for you to get bouncing…
