23 August 17 - Safety Guide for hiring a bouncy castle

There have been incidents reported in the news concerning injuries caused by inflatable games and toys. When deciding whether or not to hire an inflatable toy for your next birthday party, school party, spring fete, or another special occasion, remember to let common sense prevail. Like any toy, bouncy castles are very much safe to use BUT must be used correctly. It’s up to adults to provide proper supervision of children playing in bouncy castles and when using inflatable slides.

Children should not be permitted to enter the inflatable with dirty hands, faces or feet. No roughhousing should be allowed and only children of the same size and age should enter the bouncy castle at the same time. Children should wait 30 minutes or so after eating before bouncing up and down.

High winds are a definite danger to these large inflatable toys. Blackpool Bounce will not set up an inflatable when the weather forecast calls for wind and/or heavy rain. Securely fastening inflatable to the ground is a part of the professional setup we provide when you hire one of our disco domes, inflatable slides or obstacle courses. However, high winds, rain and thunderstorms are not something we will risk. We do not charge for cancellations on our part, due to bad weather. If an unforeseen weather event happens the inflatable should be evacuated immediately. As well, if a power failure occurs for any reason, the inflatable should also be evacuated. Without power the inflatable will lose air rapidly. Another potential cause for injury is the incorrect setup of an inflatable. Our staff at Blackpool Bounce have been fully trained. Once they have set up the inflatable no alterations are to be made.
